BLOG: The NEP Experience

May 5, 2025 | Emirates Foundation, Abu Dhabi
NEP hosted 10 STEM Fellows from the Korea Foundation at Emirates Foundation for an afternoon of connection, exchange, and shared purpose. The visit brought together 10 NEP experts, including Dr. Ameena Al-Sumaiti from NEP 3.0, who graciously welcomed the delegation to Khalifa University earlier that morning—setting the tone for an engaging day ahead.
The afternoon kicked off with welcoming remarks from H.E. Khalifa Alhemeiri, Social Affairs Advisor at the Office of Development Affairs, Presidential Court, and NEP Program Committee Member, who emphasized the power of cross-cultural partnerships in shaping the future. Ambassador Kim Won-soo, Mentor to the Korea Foundation, followed with reflections on why people-to-people exchange remains one of the most valuable tools for global collaboration. Following, NEP Fellow Meera AlMheiri shared her journey through the program, highlighting the impact of national expertise and how international dialogue helps drive innovation and leadership at home. Her remarks sparked a lively Q&A where experts from both programs compared notes on shared aspirations and sectoral challenges.
Quick introductions followed, as Korean fellows and NEP experts each took a moment to share their work and ambitions—creating space for unexpected connections and mutual discovery. The session wrapped up informally over coffee and conversation, with energy high and ideas flowing freely.
More than a visit, the afternoon profusely mirrored what NEP stands for—expertise, exchange, and building bridges that last.
