With over seven years of progressive experience in tax compliance, regulatory operations, and financial governance, Thani Bin Thani has established himself as a trusted leader within the UAE’s federal tax landscape. He currently serves as Acting Head of Tax Returns and Payments Section at the Federal Tax Authority, where he leads the development of the section’s strategic plan, oversees performance reporting to senior leadership, and drives continuous learning and team development initiatives. He was promoted to this acting role following an exceptional promotion to Returns and Payments Supervisor.

In his earlier roles at the Federal Tax Authority, Thani progressed from Returns and Payments Analyst to Senior Analyst, where he conducted research and benchmarking studies, supported the analysis of VAT refunds, and evaluated tax returns to ensure regulatory compliance. He also assessed VAT de-registration requests, contributed to the business requirement design for the EmaraTax platform, and reviewed findings for senior management. Thani holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the American University of Sharjah and has been recognized with the Al Ruwad Excellence Award 2025 and the Outstanding Employee Award 2023.
