A conscientious and empathetic leader, Capt. Eng. Mohamed pioneers innovative strategies and disruptive technologies within the UAE’s mobility and logistics sector. Guided by a vision of police pioneering for a safe city, he pragmatically integrates engineering sciences with emerging innovations to solve complex problems.
As Head of the Future Mobility Section at Dubai Police, Zainal plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of law enforcement technologies.
Zainal has been instrumental in establishing key units, including the Unmanned Aerial Systems Center, where he served as Head of R&D, Engineering Innovation Section, and Innovation Lab. These units have strengthened public safety and operational readiness, positioning the UAE as a global leader in mobility future readiness. Previously, he led the Technical Reports Section, analyzing vehicle accidents and preparing forensic engineering reports.
He has led several high-impact projects, including Ghiath, the first fully digital vehicle designed and manufactured in the UAE. Zainal also spearheaded the Drone Box initiative, which automates emergency response through drone deployment, enhancing response times during Expo 2020 and beyond. Additionally, he led the I-Serve Project, introducing a corporate car-sharing model using electric vehicles.
Zainal’s efforts have earned him prestigious awards, including the Edison Award, the Dubai Police Commander’s Award for Best Engineering Officer, the Minister of Interior’s Excellence Award, and recognition from the United Nations for sustainability initiatives.
He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering with a Minor in Commerce from the University of British Columbia and has completed a Master’s program in Innovation and Change Management. He has also completed executive programs at institutions like MIT and is certified as a Chief Innovation Officer and Innovation Strategist. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Dubai Future Experts Program and UAE Government Leadership Program and holds a diploma in Police Sciences from the Dubai Police Academy.
