For 10 years, Almarzouqi has worked for Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, one of the largest sovereign wealth funds in the world. Working with leading economists and investors from Asia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, he invests funds generated by the oil surplus in Abu Dhabi as a means of securing the UAE’s standard of living and advancing the region’s booming financial sector.

Almarzouqi regards finance as a foundational pillar of the economic and strategic success of the UAE. Along with growing the country’s investments, he aspires to help diversity the goods and services comprising GDP, which currently depends heavily on oil and oil-related industries. To accelerate growth in non-oil sectors, he is interested in leveraging new technologies and contemporary business models as well as attracting foreign capital investment. He also believes making life in the UAE more appealing to expatriate workers is key to attracting the talent that can drive economic growth.

As part of the UAE Centennial 2071 plan, Almarzouqi was nominated by his organization to work on a project for the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs focused on several different economic streams and finance. This led to policy and regulatory changes related to the UAE’s infrastructure assets, strategic positioning, and competitive position on a global level. Through the National Experts Program, he also worked with the Ministry of Economy to create a proposal aimed at facilitating entrepreneurship in non-oil sectors, which was later presented to the UAE Minister of Economy and board.

Almarzouqi earned his Bachelor of Business Administration with a triple major in Finance, Economics, and Entrepreneurship from the University of Miami School of Business Administration, and later earned his MBA at the same university. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst Charterholder and has completed several executive-level courses at Harvard Business School as part of his professional development.
