A highly accomplished and strategic-minded professional, Maryam AlFalasi has extensive experience in leading sustainability initiatives across diverse functions as Senior Sustainability Manager with Majid Al Futtaim – Carrefour.
With a track record in driving organizational change, implementing sustainable practices, and fostering environmental stewardship, Maryam leads Majid Al Futtaim’s participation in the National Adaptation Plan organized by the Ministry of Climate Change and the Environment, and works to achieve the company’s Net Positive by 2040 goals through renewable energy certifications and carbon or water credits. She engages with customers, suppliers, NGOs, and government bodies to advance sustainability initiatives and to promote the company’s sustainability leadership.
Maryam also served as Sustainability Manager and Business Cycle Manager – Procurement for Majid Al Futtaim Retail where she focused on sustainability performance, including developing metrics such as the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, waste reduction, water and energy consumption, and local farm and fishery sourcing.
Maryam spearheaded the organizing of one of the region’s largest volunteering initiatives in collaboration with Emirates Red Crescent and facilitated the recruitment of 51 Persons of Determination at Carrefour. She played a pivotal role in the COP27 negotiations and the signing of an MOU with the Ministry of Climate Change & Environment and the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi, advancing Majid Al Futtaim's sustainability agenda. She received the NAFIS Leadership Award in 2023 and was selected for the first cohort of the NAFIS Leadership Program.
She has certifications from the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership in Business Sustainability Management and the Executive Program on Sustainability Leadership. She also holds a Bachelor of General Business Administration and a Higher Diploma in Tourism and Event Management from the Higher Colleges of Technology in Dubai.
