With over 22 years of experience, Lt. Col. Dr. Eng. Nasser AlSaedi combines doctoral training in computer science with a control-systems engineering background to work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, data science, and modern policing in the UAE.

Nasser serves as Deputy Director, Organizational Excellence and Leadership Department at Abu Dhabi Police, where he is also the force’s AI Consultant. In this capacity he works closely with various departments of the organization, applying data-driven approaches to public safety, situational awareness, and decision-making.

He is an Assistant Professor of Policing and Security at Rabdan Academy and a researcher in the Complex Systems Research Group at Cardiff University’s School of Computer Science and Informatics, where he is also a member of the Social Data Science Lab. He previously joined New York University Abu Dhabi as a visiting scholar.

Among his project work, Nasser launched the Abu Dhabi Police Strategy for Artificial Intelligence, and designed the Abu Dhabi Police Decision Support System as well as Abu Dhabi Police Benchmarking Hub. He contributed to Abu Dhabi Police becoming the first policing organization to win the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) Global Excellence Award. He has received more than fifteen medals and honors, including the UAE Minister of Interior’s Scientific Research Award twice (2015 and 2019), recognition as the top Emirati PhD researcher in the UK by the UAE Embassy in 2016, and the award for best PhD project at Cardiff’s School of Computer Science and Informatics. He is also a widely published researcher on event detection and social computing across leading international conferences.

Lt. Col. Dr. Eng. Nasser holds a PhD in Computer Science and Informatics from Cardiff University, a Master of Science in Control Systems from the University of Sheffield, and a Bachelor of Control Systems Engineering, also from Sheffield.
