Government is critical to solving the hardest global challenges, from climate change to the future of urbanization or advancing on the opportunities of digital technology. Yet, public servants often lack access to the best skills and best ideas. In order to achieve these targets, governments need to become smarter so that public policy is not only used to provide resources and infrastructure but to actively promote its citizen capabilities so they can thrive at scale.
Fahad chose a career in public policy and business case analysis because he believes government’s role is to make life easier for people in all sectors. “Creating the right policies and providing the right service are at the heart of the UAE government’s goal of competing at a global level.”
If the UAE is to become less dependent on foreign expertise, it must invest in human capital. Fahad devotes a lot of his energy into developing his employees’ capabilities, and believes the country can accomplish great things if it does the same with its people. “Our ability to sustainably and effectively execute our strategic plans is a direct function of the availability of specialized personnel. In fact, we should reach a point where our expertise is exported to other regions of the world.”
