Dr. Rashed is Director of the International Centre for Forensic Science in Dubai Police, where he has solved many complex cases. An active researcher in forensic genetics, he has published 43 papers in top scientific journals and has been granted two WIPO patents for inventing a male DNA profiling tool. He is also leading a scientific team on COVID-19 surveillance of wastewater, the first initiative of its kind in the Middle East.
Dr. Rashed is working to make Dubai an international center for knowledge and the top destination for scientists, experts, and talents by strengthening the ecosystem of the knowledge-based economy.
To this end, he is president and founder of the Arabic-Speaking Working Group under the umbrella of the International Society of Forensic Genetics; an active member of 12 working groups in the forensic science, biosecurity and social sectors; chairman of Dubai Police Scientists Council; and head of Youth Scientists in UAE. He is also an alumnus of the second edition of the National Experts Program and of the Impactful Leaders program organized by Mohammed Bin Rashid Center for Leadership Development.
Dr. Rashed was awarded professorship at Murdoch University and Bond University in Australia, and UAE University. Since he began bridging academia with the service sector, he has supervised 7 masters dissertations and 3 PhD theses for students in United Kingdom, Australia, Bahrain and UAE.
He is the recipient of numerous awards for his work from institutions local, regional and international. In the last two years alone, he has received awards and top honors including: 2022: Ideas UK Awards - Innovation Award for New Male DNA Identification System, 2022: Seoul International Invention Fair, 2022: International Association of Chiefs of Police - Forensics Category, 2023: 9th International Best Practice Competition - Best Practice of Revolutionizing Forensic Science, and 2023: Ideas Arabia International Award.
