With research focused on advancing healthcare AI, medical imaging, and ultrasound analysis, Dr. Mohammad Alsharid is among the most distinguished Emirati academic researchers in the field of clinical artificial intelligence. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Khalifa University.

He previously held a National Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Department of Computer Science at Khalifa University, during which he was based at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, University of Oxford, as a Visiting Fellow. This built on his doctoral research at Oxford. Earlier in his career, he completed a research volunteer placement at the Mohammad Bin Rashid Space Center, an internship at Samsung Electronics in South Korea, and a research internship at the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC. He has delivered talks at New York University Abu Dhabi, Khalifa University, and the Oxford Centre for Artificial Intelligence’s Artificial Intelligence Programme. He serves on the Rhodes Scholarship Selection Committee for the UAE and on the Scientific Committee for the Emirates International Congress on Artificial Intelligence and Visionary Leadership in Transforming Healthcare.

Dr. Alsharid holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Khalifa University. He is a 2017 Rhodes Scholar for the United Arab Emirates and has authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals, conferences, and workshops.
