Dr. Mohamed serves as Section Head for Studies and Special Projects at the Abu Dhabi Department of Health, where he leads the genome team overseeing the Emirati Genome Project. He is also in charge of building strategies for the implementation of precision medicine and establishing the ecosystem for gene therapy in Abu Dhabi.

He previously worked as a Medical Laboratory Technologist at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, where his main role was diagnosing hematological and oncology diseases, reviewing state-of-the-art genomic machinery, and diagnosing infectious diseases while surveilling new emerging diseases. He also served as a Teaching Associate in Cell and Gene Therapy, and Personalized Medicine and Novel Therapies at University College London.

Dr. Mohamed is a member of the British Society of Genetic Medicine, the Association of Clinical Genomic Science, and the Cancer Genetics Group. He served as Coordinator of the International FTD Genomics Consortium, where he worked on hosting and organizing global conferences. Dr. Mohamed was also actively involved in youth initiatives, serving on Masdar’s Sustainability Youth Council and participating in the COP26 UAE Youth Delegation in Scotland. Additionally, he was a member of the Emirates Global Youth Council, where he worked with the UAE embassy, as well as hosting and organizing events for Emirati students in the United Kingdom.

Dr. Mohamed holds a PhD in Genetics and Epigenetics of Pediatric Leukemia and a Master’s in Cell and Gene Therapy from University College London. He also earned a Bachelor of Science with a specialization in Genetics from the University of Western Ontario in Canada.
