With over 15 years of experience spanning clinical medicine, research leadership, and healthcare innovation, Dr. Mariam Al Harbi is committed to transforming the landscape of life science in the UAE. She currently serves as Research Advisor and Consultant Paediatrician at Abu Dhabi Public Health Center, where she shapes and leads the Center’s research strategy in alignment with national public health needs and global health trends, while advising on evidence-based public health policy and leading research capacity building initiatives. She is the vice Chair of Abu Dhabi Health Research and Technology committee at the Department of Health.

She previously served as Acting Research Director at Abu Dhabi Health Services (SEHA), where she established the largest clinical trial unit in the region, built the institution’s research portfolio, chaired the central Research Ethics Committee, and implemented a new governance system for clinical research aligned with international human subject research standards. Prior to that, she served as Research Integrity Manager at SEHA, overseeing all clinical research activity across the network and developing compliance frameworks. She also continues to serve as a Consultant Paediatrician at Ambulatory Health Services, SEHA, and holds academic appointments as Adjunct Faculty Member at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at UAE University, and as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health and Epidemiology at Khalifa University.

Dr. Mariam holds a Master of Leadership and Innovation in Healthcare from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and completed the UAE National Artificial Intelligence Program at Kellogg’s College, Oxford University, as well as the Global Clinical Scholars Research Training Program at Harvard Medical School. She completed her Arab Board Certification in Paediatric Specialty through a four-year ACGME-I accredited residency at Tawam Hospital, and her executive leadership education through the ADQ Game Changers program at London Business School.
