Dr. Asma is the Assistant Advisor for Health in the Strategy and Future Sector at Abu Dhabi Executive Office. She is the scientist and expert leading national COVID-19 research efforts and the National Genomics Surveillance program for COVID-19 variants at the Ministry of Health and Prevention. She is also a member of the National Technical Advisory Committee for COVID-19.
Dr. Asma is a drug discovery scientist with specializations in biomarkers discovery, metabolomics, proteomics, and genomics. Passionate about science, research, and skills development, she strives to advance the region’s capacity in the sciences with an eye to maximizing the benefit of advanced technologies in the future.
Dr. Asma has served as principal investigator in many national collaboration studies, five of which were published in Q1 scientific and medical journals in 2022.
In March 2022, she received the UK UAE Alumni Award from the British Council by Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for the Middle East and Her Majesty’s Consul General for Dubai and the Northern Emirates. She is a member of the Royal Society of Biology and an Associate Fellow to the Higher Education Academy UK.
