BLOG: The NEP Experience

NEP 4.0 concluded its transformative journey with Module 9, a powerful finale centered on values-based leadership in philanthropy and development. Held over two days at Emirates Foundation, the module brought full circle the program’s commitment to cultivating experts equipped to lead with purpose, empathy, and insight. 

One of the module’s most moving sessions spotlighted NEP’s collaboration with Operation Smile. In a panel moderated by Areej Alawneh from the Office of Development Affairs, Presidential Court, panelists Mohammed Al Qubaisi, Member of the NEP Program Committee; H.E. Asma Al Azri, NEP 2.0 Alumna; Meera AlMheiri, NEP 2.0 Fellow; and Reem AlZaabi from Mubadala shared firsthand reflections from NEP’s first mission with Operation Smile in Nador, Morocco. They were joined by Morag Cromey-Hawke, Executive Director of Operation Smile UAE, who spoke passionately about the impact of safe, free cleft lip and palate surgeries. The session underscored how empathy and volunteerism amplify the impact of national talent on the global stage—while reinforcing NEP’s call to service beyond borders.

On the second day, H.E. Mohamed Jalal Al Rayssi, Advisor at the Office of Development Affairs, brought the spotlight back to national narratives, speaking on the role of trust, values, and storytelling in effective public communication. His insights offered timely reminders as the experts prepared to take the stage one final time.

The module culminated in a series of boardroom-style presentations, where five NEP 4.0 experts unveiled community empowerment proposals developed through months of research, field engagement, and collaborative analysis. Presented to H.E. Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, H.E. Mohammed Al Kaabi, Secretary General, Emirates Council for Balanced Development, and the NEP Program Committee, the session reflected NEP’s immersive approach—translating expertise into tangible, context-driven solutions. Each presentation was met with thoughtful dialogue and challenge, underscoring the importance of responsive, scalable strategies rooted in national priorities.

As the final chapter in the NEP 4.0 journey, Module 9 was more than a conclusion—it was a reaffirmation. A testament to how knowledge, when paired with purpose, becomes a force for lasting change.
