Ali Alshimmari is a senior Emirati energy and infrastructure executive whose work spans engineering, international commercial strategy, and government-level diplomacy. Ali Alshimmari regularly engages at head-of-state and ministerial level across Africa, Central Asia, and Latin America, advancing the UAE's position as a credible, delivery-oriented partner in clean energy and industrial development.
Alshimmari currently serves as Managing Director and CEO, Global South Utilities, as well as Director, Strategic & Special Projects, Masdar, Chairman, Nexora Industries and Special Envoy for Strategic Projects in Egypt.
A Fellow of the National Experts Program under the direct mentorship of H.E. Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, he played a central role in shaping the UAE's National Hydrogen Strategy and served on the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure's Hydrogen Technical Committee.
In 2025, the President of Chad personally awarded him the Officer of the National Order, the country's highest civil honour, for delivering Chad's first utility-scale solar plant four months ahead of schedule, bringing electricity to tens of thousands of families.
Previously, Ali held roles as an International Assets Manager for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) at the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), overseeing asset management strategies, policies, and programs for utility and power-generation investments in Saudi Arabia and Oman.
Alshimmari holds an MBA with Honours from Abu Dhabi University and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from United Arab Emirates University. He has completed several professional certifications with INSEAD, McGill University, and Bocconi University, and has completed prestigious leadership programs like the QIYADA Leadership program.
